Today was a big day- childbirth class! We opted for the all day class instead of the multiple night option. Our teacher was great. She was very funny and very approachable. We learned a lot and I'm glad to have learned MOST of what was said! I think ignorance would have been a better option on some bits of information! We got to see a room and tour the maternity ward. I feel really good about using NEA. It's crazy, but we will be there in about two months.
Today I got a call from Dr. Delacey's nurse. My sugar test came back looking good- Praise the Lord!!! However, my iron count is low. I learned at my doctor's appointment that it is very important for your iron count to be good when you deliver the baby to prevent blood transfusions. So easy fix- I'll start taking an iron supplement in the morning and continue my regular vitamins at night.
I am sooo excited! Jamie McIlvoy painted these pieces for Luke's room! She is super talented! I am very blessed to have a friend who is very creative and generous! I can't wait to hang them.
It's official- the baby's name is Luke! We're using Brock's middle name as Luke's middle name. I'm very pleased especially since it's the name I was stuck on!
Another exciting event- we have childcare! I have been worried about who would keep the baby when I go back to work after Christmas. I really wanted to avoid daycare till the next school year begins. I talked to quite a few people to get names of people who keep and advice- what a hard decision to make! God answered my prayer with Angie Todd Branch. It's so funny how we played together when we were little and now our babies will play together each day! Even more ironic is her son's name is Brock! I am so excited how everything worked out and am so glad that major decision is done!
Here are some pictures of the baby's room. The furniture minus a rocker is all ready. We are decorating using a nautical theme. The bedding is in, but I am waiting to dress the bed till later so it will not get dusty. Neely and I found a mattress, which was an experience! Lots of help is going into his room! I am most likely going to have the rocker my mom used for me recovered. My mom has spent endless hours walking around stores for me to find the right items. Jamie McIlvoy is painting the artwork- can't wait to see them! My cousin, Sheree', is making a quote for above the double windows. A lady I taught with at Rector, Leisa Wesley, came up with the quote- "May your joys be as deep as the ocean and your sorrows as light as its foam." My aunt Rhonda arranged the furniture and gave me guidance on what to do in the room. Susan Hurt is going to make the curtains, which will be red. So... what's left is... rug, rocker, hanging artwork and curtains, organizing the shelves, dressing both beds, finish cleaning out the closet (I have no idea where the rest of my clothes are going to go), and I'm sure lots of other things that I will think of.
Hi Everyone! I've finally returned to the blogging world. On Friday, I had my sugar test done. I had heard horrible things about the taste, so I was dreading it. To my surprise- it tasted pretty good- like orange soda from McDonald's. It got a little hard to drink at the end and I got an almost instant headache. Overall though- MUCH better than I had anticipated. I will know the results tomorrow, but the nurse said she thought they would be fine. Great doctor's appointment- I didn't gain too much weight unlike last time, blood pressure is good, and growth is on track. I'm very thankful for a healthy pregnancy.
Hi Everyone! My husband, Brock, and I have been married for seven years now. On October 17th,2009, we were blessed with a sweet baby boy- Luke! And, on June 12, 2012, we were given another little boy, Lawson. We're very excited. I will be updating this blog with news and pictures of our house full of boys!
